Exciting news for Christchurch families and fans of timeless children’s fashion – Jamie Kay is opening its very first New Zealand retail store at The Crossing on Saturday 24 May, with doors opening from 10am. Located on the ground floor, right next to Coffee Culture, this new boutique brings a beloved online brand to life in a beautiful, welcoming space.
Born in Canterbury and recognised around the world, Jamie Kay is known for creating thoughtfully designed baby and children’s clothing made from high-quality, organic materials. Now, for the first time, customers can browse and shop the full Jamie Kay range in person – from wardrobe essentials to special occasion pieces – right in the heart of Christchurch’s retail precinct.
To mark this milestone moment, Jamie Kay will be celebrating in style with an exclusive gift bag giveaway. The first 500 people in line on opening day will each receive a specially prepared Jamie Kay gift bag – a lucky dip filled with handpicked items. Please note, the contents of each gift bag may vary, and there is a limit of one bag per family. Bags will be given out at the discretion of the Jamie Kay team and only while stocks last – so make sure to arrive early!

The grand opening of Jamie Kay’s flagship New Zealand store brought the city centre to life with a vibrant, family-friendly celebration. The response from the community was incredible, with enthusiastic shoppers arriving in the early hours to secure their place in line for the exclusive gift bags.
By sunrise, the queue stretched well beyond Kettlewell Lane and Colombo Street, wrapping past Seed Heritage and along Cashel Street towards H&M. Many brought camp chairs and snacks, embracing the wait with a strong sense of excitement and community spirit.
Adding to the energy, popular TV personality and Jamie Kay fan Rebekah Randall made a special appearance, personally handing out gift bags to the first arrivals. Her warmth and presence made the moment even more memorable for families and young children waiting patiently outside.
Inside, the store remained busy throughout the day, as customers explored the thoughtfully curated space and browsed Christchurch-exclusive styles. As CEO Zion Armstrong noted in The Press, the new store marks more than just a retail opening, it’s a space designed to foster connection and community.
